Moms Who Juggle Parenting and Volunteer Firefighting Duties

Here’s a placement we secured for our Everyday Hero CT client on FOX 61 and in The Hartford Courant:

From FOX61.com:

“Why do you do it when you have children depending on you?

It’s a question that Melissa Roming and Nicole Laterra often hear. They’re volunteer firefighters at the Cromwell Fire Department and they’re also moms.

‘You know people are panicking,’ explains Roming, single mother of an 8-year-old. ‘You have it in you to bring some calm to that.’

The importance of helping others outweighs the fears, controlled by the confidence they have in their support system, their fellow firefighters.

‘They have my back and I have theirs,’ says Laterra, who has four kids. But, in recent years, the number of volunteer firefighters has dwindled across the state, which a new campaign called Everyday Hero CT is aiming to change.
