Founded in 2007 in Avon, Connecticut, WardComm Public Relations is dedicated to maximizing clients’ dollars and custom designing needs-focused, goal-oriented public relations projects and campaigns that deliver strong results. From generating awareness for clients’ products and services, to educating the public about overall brand and corporate or organizational identities, WardComm makes a habit of creatively and effectively communicating clients’ most vital messages to target audiences on multiple levels.
Having begun her career more than 20 years ago in the non-profit sector, Laura is an award-winning, exceptionally well-written, scrupulously detail-oriented public relations professional. She thrives on utilizing the written word, whether via press releases, by-lined articles, newsletters, websites, or social media; creating and executing public relations campaigns; fostering relationships with the media; planning events; multi-tasking; and meeting tight deadlines.
Laura’s broad industry experience encompasses such categories as children’s and women’s apparel, marketing, health care, banking, food and beverage, home furnishings, and non-profit organizations. Over the years she has worked with national and regional brands, including McDonald’s, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Garelick Farms, Friendship Dairies, AGA Ranges, Agbar, Bertucci’s, and Northeast Utilities, as well as State of Connecticut agencies such as the Department of Revenue Services and Department of Public Health.
Her efforts have earned placements in local, regional, national, and trade media, including The TODAY Show, NBC News, The Weather Channel, The New York Times, Newsweek on Air, Associated Press Broadcast, The Huffington Post, The Hartford Courant, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, ADWEEK, BRANDWEEK, PRWEEK, Nation’s Restaurant News, Hospitals & Health Networks, Home Furnishings Retailer, and Lottery Insights, to name a few.
In 2007, Laura founded WardComm Public Relations, LLC, a public relations consulting firm. She has worked with such clients as the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame, the Avon Volunteer Fire Department, Admissions Revolution, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, ASAP Urgent Care, Calcagni Real Estate, FUZION Medical Aesthetic Boutique, ZINC Restaurant, EDCO Engineering, Progressive Animal Wellness, The Discovery Orchestra, and Ed Jarrett, world-renowned sculptor and Guinness World Record holder for the Tallest Sandcastle.
Prior to launching her own business, Laura was employed by Glastonbury, Connecticut-based Cronin and Company, Inc., a full-service marketing communications agency. She began her public relations career at The Fairfield County Medical Association, a Trumbull, Connecticut-based non-profit trade association with over 1,800 physician members, where she oversaw and continually strengthened the Association’s governmental affairs program and public relations efforts, serving a dual role as liaison between the Association and Connecticut General Assembly and Association spokesperson.
Laura earned her bachelor of arts degree in public policy from Hamilton College. She is a former president of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. Laura has also been a guest lecturer in public relations writing at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.
